CLERGY
Chazzan Sheini Raphael Ouaknine
Raphael was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1974, and has been in Canada since 1985. He and his wife Joanne Cohen have three children, Avraham Shalom, Yosef Aharon and David Moshe Yissachar. Many people also know Raphael as the chief shomer at Paperman & Sons, and also as the Chazzan Sheini on Shabbat and Yom Tov at Otzareinu. He has celebrated smachot with our Congregation before, including his own wedding and the brith milah of both of his sons.
Raphael is "on duty" at TBDJ from Monday to Friday (except Yom Tov), and will is in charge of TBDJ's morning minyan. He is also the Ba'al Koreh (lain), daven Musaf on Rosh Chodesh, and takes care of a number of other functions, including working with the yahrzeit lists and letters. Raphael also supplies Shmura matzah and wine for Passover, and Lulavim/Etrogim and Sechach for Sukkot.
