Sivan Rahav-Meir is a media personality and lecturer. She works for Israel TV news, writes a column for Yediot Aharonot newspaper, and hosts a weekly radio show on Galei Zahal (Army Radio). Sivan's lectures on the weekly Torah portion are attended by hundreds and the live broadcast attracts thousands more listeners throughout the world. She lectures in Israel and overseas about the media, Judaism, Zionism and new media and was voted by Globes newspaper as most popular female media personality in Israel and by the Jerusalem Post as one of the 50 most influential Jews in the world. Married to Yedidya, Sivan is the mother of five children and lives in Yerushalayim. As Scholar-in-Residence at TBDJ, Sivan shares with us her personal story and what it means to work as a female Orthodox journalist in Israel. On Erev Shabbat at 8:45pm, join us at the home of Brenda & Sam Gewurz for a special Oneg Shabbat at which our guest shares some introductory thoughts and remarks. On Shabbat following Mussaf in the Main Sanctuary, Sivan speaks about "My Personal Story as an Orthodox Journalist in Israel". Before Mincha at 4:35pm, Sivan offers a Shabbat Shiur entitled "A Study of Parshat Breisheet - Journalism, Judaism and New Beginnings." And finally on Motsaei Shabbat at 8:00pm, join us for "An Insider's Look Behind the Scenes of the Israeli News Media" - a multimedia presentation by Rahav Meir featuring a live, on-the-spot, interview of Rabbi Yechezkel Freundlich.
