Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Yisroel Roll grew up in Chomedey and attended Herzliah High School in Saint-Laurent. He received a BA from Yeshiva University and a law degree from the University of Toronto, after which he practiced criminal defense and litigation law in Toronto. Rabbi Roll then went to rabbinical school in Yerushalayim and after receiving semicha, he served as the rabbi of the New West End Synagogue in London under the UK's Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks. He is currently a psychotherapist in private practice in Baltimore, specializing in anxiety and depression. Rabbi Roll is the author of twelve books on self-esteem including "When the Going Gets Tough", "Self Esteem in the Talmud", "Step Up to the Plate: Baseball and Judaism", "May I Have This Dance?" and "Invisible: Getting to Good Enough".
