TBDJ Welcomes Scholar-in-Residence Yosef Gillers

All Day for 2 DaysYosef Gillers is the Founder and Co-Executive Director of GrowTorah in Teaneck, New Jersey. He is a passionate experiential Jewish educator with a love for brainstorming, systems, and fun! Yosef holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a certificate in Experiential Jewish Education from M²: The Institute for Experiential Jewish Education in New York.
GrowTorah curates educational garden experiences that help participants explore relevant Jewish values and Torah lessons, and learn the fundamentals of gardening and land stewardship. The Torah lessons interwoven with the educational garden experiences inspire participants to navigate the complex relationships between humans, their fellow creatures, and the earth, and encourage participants to connect with these values in powerful and personally meaningful ways.
On Thursday, February 13, Yosef leads a Tu B'Shvat Program for Kids starting at 5:00pm (preregistration required). On Shabbat Parshat Yitro, he speaks from the Bima on the following topics: "Striving for a Balanced Ecosystem" and "Digging Deeper Towards Zero Waste Living". On Motsa'ei Shabbat, Yosef leads a hands-on "Pickling Workshop" while teaching about the fascinating fermentation process - includes a light dinner (preregistration required).
